The Bottom Line
Everything starts with the Torah. It is the greatest sha’ar to avodas Hashem, and it’s the first and the most important step of that avodah. And while the other two pillars of the world – chesed and tefillah – can certainly bring us closer to Hashem, nothing can be compared to the hiskarvus and yedidus of Torah, if we invest all of our idealism, efforts and frumkeit into learning and acquiring it. This coming week, I will attempt, bli neder, to be “ הולך ” in my Torah and to be עמל in it, to ‘walk’ and toil in it as the Chasam Sofer said, by thinking for 5 min about what I learned – either in my shiur, chaburah, or chavrusa shaft – after my learning session has concluded. I will also, bli neder, listen to my maggid shiur or Rebbi or chavrusa with a little more seriousness and yirah, so that I can better prepare myself for Kabolas HaTorah and draw from the wellspring of Torah that will, IYH, open up for me this year once again!
